the guillotine queen

Today I've re-opened and started to edit a track that's simply not holding its own live.
The track was originally started to be a straight ahead dance track. This is where I got into trouble. Nothing else on my record remotely considers being straight ahead. The lack of complexity, single time signature and one drum kit can't stand up to tracks written in multiple keys with dueling time signatures.

The track is about tension, betrayal and deception. Today, I'm asking myself, what is the rhythm of betrayal? How does it structure time? It begins with the promise of sweetness, yet it descends upon itself like a cannibal in the end. Under this, like a harmonic brother, tension forms structure. Bpm rises to a crechendo as the deception unravels. In the end, you are left with only the silence of truth.
